Dr Ashish Bharadwaj serves as the founding dean of BITS Law School in Mumbai (India). He is a Visiting Associate Professor at the Institute for Innovation Research, Hitotsubashi University Tokyo. He has previously served as Dean at O.P. Jindal Global University, Director of the Office of Academic Innovation & Online Learning, a Founding Director of the Jindal Initiative on Research on Intellectual Property and Competition (JIRICO), Affiliated Faculty at the Indiana University Bloomington’s Maurer School of Law, and a Research Fellow at Max Planck Institute for Innovation & Competition in Munich.

Professor Bharadwaj holds a Ph.D. from Max Planck Institute and Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich; LL.M. from Erasmus University Rotterdam, University of Hamburg and University of Manchester; and M.Sc. from Madras School of Economics, College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University. He is a recipient of the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship from the European Commission, Max Planck Society Doctoral Fellowship from Federal Government of Germany, and Thomas Edison Innovation Fellowship from Antonin Scalia School of Law, George Mason University. 

Professor Bharadwaj teaches and writes on technology innovation, patent licensing, economic analysis of law, AI in digital societies, national innovation/IP policy, and market competition. He has more than 70 publications, including 4 books, articles in peer-reviewed journals, and invited op-eds in media.
