Dr. Clare Sullivan
Clare Sullivan is a Barrister and Solicitor with extensive experience in Australian and
international legal practice, and as a Professor, including 10 years at Georgetown University
in Washington D.C. At Georgetown, Dr. Sullivan founded and ran Cyber SMART, then the
only multi-disciplinary Industry-University collaborative cyber research center accredited by
the U.S. National Science Foundation. Sullivan holds a Doctorate in cyber law and has been
awarded both a Fulbright and an Endeavor Fellowship for her work on digital identity and
data security. She is the author of the seminal legal text “Digital Identity.” Dr. Sullivan’s work
focusses on digital identity, data security, privacy, AI, distributed ledger technology and
national security. She has just been appointed as a Member of the Smart Contacts
Committee, Standards Australia. Her consultancy work includes research, reports, and
advocacy for industry in the U.S. and Australia, for the U.S. and Australian governments, the
Commonwealth Secretariat, and the World Bank.
