The GW Competition & Innovation Lab played active roles at the Festival by organizing a panel discussion on the Law and Economics of merger control in the face of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Fintech as well as presenting awards to winners of the Young Talent Competition Award.

 

Young Talent Competition Award

The Young Talent Competition Award (YTCA), is an initiative inviting young economists and lawyers to submit research proposals, which will be evaluated by a distinguished commission, with selected finalists presenting their work at the LCF.

 The GW Competition & Innovation Lab awarded monetary prizes to the second and third place winners of the Young 

Emilie Feyler, a Senior Fellow of the Lab won the inaugural Young Competition Talent Award.

Panel Discussion Organized by the Lab

This session managed and organised  by the GW Competition & Innovation Lab, explores how AI and FinTech pose specific challenges to merger control, emphasizing the Law and Economics angles. As common ownership in FinTech markets grows, it uniquely impacts competition and innovation. 

This discussion aims to equip antitrust policymakers with insights to navigate the complexities of AI and FinTech in merger control, promoting competitive and innovative financial markets.
