Inaugural Conference

In April, the GW Competition and Innovation Lab held its inaugural conference, inspired by a collaboration between founding director Aurelien Portuese and the Antitrust Law Journal on a special issue titled "Beyond Dynamic Competition." The lab, named by Andrew Gavil, operates within the Institute of Public Policy at George Washington University. It aims to produce articles and publications on pressing topics, including AI governance and antitrust issues. The lab aspires to become a central hub for addressing global competition and innovation challenges.

G7 Conference

In June, a scientific event in Rome explored the intersection of digital trade, data governance, and AI. Senior Deputy Governor Luigi Federico Signorini gave opening remarks, followed by sessions on digital fragmentation, trends in digital trade policy, and cross-border data flows. Prof. Philippe Aghion delivered a keynote on AI and innovation. A policy session focused on the G7 Data Free Flow with Trust initiative and cross-border payments, with insights from experts across major institutions.
